If you are choosing a companion for its ability rather than its color, use this page. It compares the fairies with confirmed special effects so you can match one to the way you play.
Unique combat and defensive passives
| Companion | What it does | Timing / condition |
|---|---|---|
| Tatl | Gives nearby Monsters Glowing for 70 ticks. | Scans within about 10 blocks every 60 ticks while owned. |
| Tael | Removes the first active effect from its ordered debuff list: Slowness, Poison, Wither, Blindness, Nausea, Darkness, Mining Fatigue, Hunger or Weakness. | A successful cleanse starts a 6,000-tick cooldown; the initial counter starts partly charged. |
| Neri | 5% chance to give the owner Absorption for 60 ticks when hurt. | Only if Absorption is not already active. |
| Leaf | 5% chance to double a hit dealt by the owner to a living target. | Checked on the incoming-damage event. |
| Sheikah Fairy | Negates a qualifying incoming hit from a living attacker, grants 100–140 ticks of Invisibility and 60 ticks of Speed II, and clears nearby mob aggression. | 600-tick cooldown and temporary anti-retarget window. |
| Golden Fairy | Neri and Leaf procs, Tael-style cleansing, plus +1 magic every 400 ticks. | Combination companion; not a guarantee that every attack or hit procs. |
| Ciela | Enables enhanced sword-beam damage under the Ciela-powered condition. | Default configured beam: 8 damage instead of 5. |
| Navi | Can become your companion through the first sword-bearing shrine intro. | If you already have a companion, the intro provides bottled Navi instead. |
Documented spawn leads
| Fairy | When to look | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Navi | Temple of Time area | Wild spawn rules check the structure area and limit unowned nearby Navi. |
| Tatl / Tael | While it is raining | Each has a rare 1% spawn-candidate roll and a local cap of one unowned fairy. |
| Neri | Nighttime | 2% spawn-candidate roll, local cap of one unowned Neri. |
| Leaf | An air position over solid ground, with no lava at the candidate block | 1% candidate roll, cap of one unowned Leaf nearby. |
Spawn-candidate percentages are not encounter probabilities. Spawner selection, biome rules and the local cap must also permit a spawn.
Shared utility and additional variants
The base pet fairy follows its owner, collects experience and can retrieve eligible missed Fairy Arrows. Registered color variants include White, Gray, Black, Orange, Lime, Green, Cyan, Purple, Magenta, Brown and Dark. Their existence does not establish a unique passive ability; no separate passive is listed here.
Healing Fairies are separate
Wild Healing Fairies can be bottled or consumed for 7 health points plus four seconds of Regeneration. They are not interchangeable with the owner-bound pet-fairy ability system.
