The Sword Shrine is one of the mod’s most important workstations. It gives you the first Goddess Sword in the Temple, holds and repairs gear, converts bows, powers boomerang rituals, and drives the True Master Sword upgrade.
The first Goddess Sword
A world-generated sword-bearing shrine is a special one-time version of the block. Use it with an empty main hand to receive a Goddess Sword. It immediately changes into the normal reusable Sword Shrine while preserving its facing direction. The first interaction can also begin Navi’s introductory sequence; if you already have a pet fairy, Navi is handled without replacing that companion.

Place or retrieve a weapon
- With an empty shrine, use a sword, an ordinary bow or a Magic Boomerang to place it on the shrine.
- Use the shrine with an empty hand to retrieve its contents. If both hands are occupied, the item drops nearby instead.
- The shrine emits a full-strength redstone signal (15) whenever it holds an item.
Convert a Bow into a Fairy Bow
- Place an ordinary Bow on the shrine.
- Use a Healing Fairy Bottle on the occupied shrine.
- Retrieve the new Fairy Bow; an empty Hylian Bottle is returned to your inventory, or dropped when inventory is full.
The conversion copies components from the original bow, except default attributes. Check existing enchantment compatibility in your mod build.
Create a Blessed Nether Star
- Travel to the End and place an empty Sword Shrine.
- Use an ordinary Nether Star on it.
- Complete the 800-tick (~40-second) ritual. Endermen spawn during the event, with lightning and particles; prepare your arena and defensive gear.
- After completion, the star transforms into a Blessed Nether Star and a Healing Fairy appears.
Inserting a regular Nether Star into an empty shrine for the blessing ritual is restricted to the End. An existing item may be removed before the ritual completes.
Create the True Master Sword
- Place a Golden Master Sword on a Sword Shrine.
- Use a Blessed Nether Star on the occupied shrine.
- Retrieve the True Master Sword. The star is consumed and the shrine copies the previous sword’s components except default attributes.

Automatic equipment repair
A shrine holding damaged, damageable equipment repairs one durability point every 400 server ticks (20 seconds at 20 TPS). It can be used while you explore, but it is much slower than ordinary repair materials.
Magic Boomerang elements
| Used on a shrine holding a Magic Boomerang | Required condition | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Din’s Flame | The Nether | Din’s Fury |
| Farore’s Flame | Overworld, while raining | Farore’s Storm |
| Nayru’s Flame | The End | Nayru’s Embrace |
Each ritual consumes its flame and replaces the other two elemental enchantments if present. Gale Force is registered separately; it is not part of these three shrine rituals.
