This page focuses on practical questions players run into while finding progression items, learning the mod’s systems, or updating an existing installation. For detailed mechanics, follow the linked guide instead of digging through a giant FAQ.
Progression & important items
Where do I get the Goddess Sword?
Find the Temple of Time and use its special sword-bearing shrine with an empty main hand. The shrine gives you the Goddess Sword and then becomes a normal reusable Sword Shrine.
Where do the three Sacred Flames come from?
Farore’s Flame comes from the Farore Maze, Nayru’s Flame comes from the Nayru Shrine, and Din’s Flame drops after defeating the Fire Golem in the Din Arena. Sacred Flame guide →
How do I get a Hookshot?
In the main mod, the Hookshot can appear as a tier-4 Goron merchant trade for one Purple Rupee. Goron stock rotates, so it may take more than one in-game day to appear. Hookshot guide →
How do I get the Fairy Bow?
Place a normal Bow in a Sword Shrine and use a bottled Healing Fairy to empower it. Fairy Bow guide →
How do I get the True Master Sword?
In the End, place a Nether Star in a Sword Shrine and survive the ritual to obtain a Blessed Nether Star. Then place a Golden Master Sword in a Sword Shrine and use the Blessed Nether Star on it. Full ritual guide →
Where do I find Fire Rods, Ice Rods, or Mysterious Scrap?
Fire Rods can appear in Bastion and Nether Fortress treasure. Ice Rods can appear in Igloos, snowy village houses, and Ancient City ice-box chests. Mysterious Scrap can be mined from Kakariko Ore in the Nether and also appears through several loot/drop sources. Where to Find Things →
Using the mod
How do I open the Ocarina song menu?
Hold a Fairy Ocarina or Ocarina of Time in your main hand and press O by default. The menu will not open over another screen such as chat or your inventory. Ocarina guide →
Do the swords disappear when they run out of durability?
No. The mod’s swords are designed not to vanish when they reach their minimum durability state. Repair the sword before continuing to use it normally.
Why can’t I find a custom structure?
Structures only generate when new chunks are created, must pass their biome and terrain rules, and can also be disabled in server configuration. If you are exploring an old world, travel into terrain that has never been generated before. Structure guide →
Does this wiki apply to every Minecraft/mod version?
Most core mechanics carry across releases, so the wiki is intentionally version-neutral. When a recipe, value, structure, or behavior differs by version, the relevant page should call it out. The technical baseline used to maintain the wiki is listed on Wiki Status.
Updating & troubleshooting
I updated the mod and something is acting strangely. What should I try first?
Back up your world and your current config, then let the mod regenerate its common configuration file. The public mod page specifically recommends deleting the old Master Sword common config when an update causes problems. Reapply any custom settings afterward.
My Hookshot will not attach to blocks on a server. Why?
The server may have limitHookshotTargets enabled. That option changes Hookshots from normal valid-block targeting to a configurable allowlist. Hookshot target rules →
A song, structure, or item behaves differently from this wiki.
Check your Minecraft/mod version and server configuration first. Older releases and customized servers can differ from the current maintenance baseline. If the difference is real and reproducible, it is worth documenting on the specific page instead of hiding it in the FAQ.
